Siege of Fort Wayne 1812

Historic Fort Wayne, Inc. will host the Siege of Fort Wayne 1812, June 8 – 9 at The Old Fort. From the days of the American Revolutionary War to the end of the 1812 war, British agents operating from Canada worked to instigate Native American tribes against the United States as part of an effort to block American expansion westward. During the War of 1812Indiana Territory was home to several conflicts between the United States territorial government and partisan Native American forces backed by the British. Fort Wayne, situated on the confluence of the Three Rivers, was on the front line. This weekend at the Old Fort, reenactors will recreate the Siege of Fort Wayne during the War of 1812. Be a part of the conflict! There will be musket and cannon demonstrations. Soldiers and civilians demonstrate daily life and drills. Period artisans display their wares. There are children’s activities. The event runs Saturday June 8, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, and Sunday June 9, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The event is free. First time participants must submit photos of themselves, members, and camp. First time vendors and blanket traders must attach photos of the camp and time-period appropriate merchandise. Registration deadline is May 24, 2024. Check-in begins Friday at 10:00 am. Saturday check-in is 6:00 am to 8:00 am. Vehicles must leave the grounds by 8:00 am Saturday. Parking is available in the lot across the street from the fort. Camp areas are assigned. There are restrooms and a water source. There are no food vendors on site.
