DESCRIPTION:The Richland Early American Center for History invites you to discover life in early America during the 18th and 19th Century from living historical reenactors. Throughout the day there will be crafts\, trades\, demonstrations\, and activities\, including Blacksmithing\, Games and Children’s Activities\, Open Hearth Cooking Demonstrations\, and Civilian and Military Reenactments.  Grounds feature the 1808 log cabin with Rumford fireplace and baking oven\, an original 1812 Blockhouse\, and a late 18th/early 19th-century blacksmith/woodworking shop.  Public hours 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.\nAdmission and parking are free to public.  For re-enactors\, please click on link to registerhttps://forms.gle/DjHi6CLZh2t7xiVt7\n**Food Truck will be on site for our event for visitors and re-enactors.\n***Friday\, September 30th is “Food Truck Friday” for townspeople as they watch the official opening and camp set up.\nFor Re-enactors:\nSet up Thursday\, October 5th in evening or Friday\, October 6th. DESCRIPTION:Mississinewa 1812 is the largest War of 1812 living history event in the United States! Sponsored by the Mississinewa Battlefield Society Inc (Marion\, IN) with the support of the Department of Natural Resources. It is a historical commemoration of the Battle of Mississinewa fought in Grant County on December 17-18\, 1812. It’s a step back in time to 1812! Faithful attention to authenticity has made Mississinewa 1812 the premiere living history event in Indiana. Here you will step back into the wilderness life of early Indiana Territory. \nMilitary Encampments\nExperience the days of the War of 1812 in the British and American military camps. View the daily life of the War of 1812 soldier. Ongoing demonstrations include field drill\, artillery firing\, musket and rifle drill\, battlefield surgery\, and daily battle reenactments. \nNative American Village\nThe ancient culture of the woodland Indian dominates the largest reconstructed woodland Indian village in the United States. The traditional long house is the center piece for this glimpse of Indian life that has been on this site since 1752. In addition to storytelling and music\, there are ongoing demonstrations of fire starting\, cooking\, and many other aspects of Native American life. \nRivertown\nMore than 140 merchants\, artisans\, food purveyors and musicians will delight you with their wares\, demonstrations of 18th Century crafts\, food and drink of 1812. Rivertown offers reproductions of many 1812 necessities including fine yard goods\, silver and tin ware\, pottery\, muskets and candles. \nWilderness Area\nLife along the rivers and streams in 1812 is recreated in the trapper\, voyager\, and pirate camps along the river. Each camp features ongoing demonstrations of fire starting\, open fire cooking and storytelling in this unique display of wilderness life. DESCRIPTION:Join us October 27th – 29th\, 2023 for 18th Century Market Fair at Locust Grove! You can participate in 18th c. style entertainment\, purchase replicas of 18th century military and household items\, enjoy food and drink as our founders did\, meet and converse with early Americans. Mock battles for our country’s independence will take place! \nExperience Historic Locust Grove as it comes alive with the sounds of chatting and bargaining\, the smells of wood smoke and gunpowder\, and all the sights you would expect from a Market Fair set in the 1780s. Visitors will be able to converse with men\, women\, and children about life during the final years of the War for Independence\, tour the historic house\, and perhaps join in a militia drill or two. Guests can also learn songs and games from the period\, and of course\, shop at all the booths and tents that will spring up on the grounds! Vendors will be selling their period wares\, from pottery to spoons to bread to bonnets. The property is divided between the Americans and the British\, so be sure to take a tour of both camps to see and hear both sides of the story.

SUMMARY:The Battle of New Orleans
DESCRIPTION:The Battle of New Orleans was a multi-faceted event in regional and national history.  It had all of the following: \n\nA Glorious American Victory? Yes.\nA horrible human tragedy for the British? Yes\nHappened after the signing of the peace treaty ending the War of 1812? Yes\nA seminal event in race relations in New Orleans and American history? Yes\nPropelled one man to be elected President? Yes\nand more…\n\nThe British campaigns in the swamps of now-St. Bernard Parish during the winter of 1814-15 were all of these things.  Through our participation in living history events\, the Friends of the Battle of New Orleans seeks to educate the public about all these things.  We sponsor an annual event to recreate a feeling of what life was like during that period.  Our event gathers volunteer living history participants from across the North American continent to bring history back to life.  We invite the public and a wide range of school children to participate and learn about these events and their significance. \n208th Anniversary\nParade Friday night through the French Quarter\, dance Saturday night – Excellent camp-cooked food during the days

DESCRIPTION:Barbershop Quartet family Merrell Kenworthy present a program entitled “1776″\,\n“The writing of the Declaration of Independence in a 20th century musical“\n\nFeb 17 \, 2024 \, Hazelwood Christian Church Fellowship Hall.  1400  W. University Ave.\, Muncie\, IN starting 10:00 am until about 11:15 am Free and open to the public. Children are welcome. Refreshments served up at 9:30 am with fellowship for the first 30 meetings before meeting starts.\nThe participants will be: Aidan Kennedy\, Conner Kennedy\, Breanna Kennedy\, Michelle Kennedy\, Melody Waggoner and Merrell Kenworthy.There will be no recorded background music. There will be accompaniment for some songs on an electronic keyboard and a clarinet. A few will be a capella. The performers likely not be costumed for a one-time event like this. SUMMARY:Battles and Beverages Reenactment and Fair
DESCRIPTION:On March 23rd\, “Battles and Beverages”\, will be held at the Fort William Henry Conference Center and on the Lake George Battlefield.  The fair and reenactment event is sponsored by The French and Indian War Society\, the Fort William Henry Corporation\, the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance\, as well as several local craft beverage producers. \n\n\nThe Fair and Meet in the Conference Center\, 9:30 – 5:00\, will feature sutlers\, authentic crafts\, and reenactor groups from all historical periods.  Visitors will be able to sample and purchase the products of local craft breweries\, wineries\, and distilleries.  There will be French and Indian War reenactments on Lake George Battlefield Park at 11 and 1 and the Battlefield Visitor Center will be open from 10 – 2.  At 7 pm\, Dr. Steven C. Eames will speak on the topic of warfare along Northeastern frontier during the French and Indian Wars.

DESCRIPTION:EVENT UPDATE FOR APRIL 2023 DATE: \nThe event coordinator and the board have decided to postpone this year’s April 21-23 event in Lewis because of needing more time to prepare the grounds. We will be on the grounds on April 22 &23 for work days and anyone wanting to see the grounds is more than welcome to come out and walk around. \nWe will keep the same weekend in April for 2024. \nA new living history encampment on a beautiful pine forest property.  Trails through the pines open up to large areas for several camps as one travels down the trails. This is an 80 acre private park. The event\, for its first year\, has access to 50 acres. Time period is 1750-1815. So we will cover F&I\, Rev. war and Regency time periods.

DESCRIPTION:The World War II Reenactment will be held at AuGlaize Village near Defiance Ohio on April 19-20\, 2024. April 19th will be the school day and April 20th open to the public.\n\nAuGlaize Village will be providing biscuit and gravy breakfast\, coffee\, and rolls to the reenactors both days.\n\nRobert Mergel and Bo Johnstone will be heading up the planning for the WWII reenactment scenario. DESCRIPTION:It is once again time for Fort Gibson Historic Site’s annual Education Day! This year is a bit special as it is also the 200th anniversary of the Fort’s establishment. Keep reading for details and how your class can join in.\nOn 19 April 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.\, Fort Gibson Historic Site will host our annual Education Day. The site will be closed to the general public/non school groups. Living Historians will set up a variety of stations across the grounds depicting various aspects of life in the 1800s.\n\nRegistration times are 9:00 a.m.\, 10:00 a.m\, 11:00 a.m.\, 12:00 p.m.\, 1:00 p.m. and classes must register to attend.\nThanks to a Heritage Preservation Grant\, this event will be free to schools though registration is required.\nRegistration will remain open as long as there are spots available. SUMMARY:Grassy Run Heritage Rendezvous
DESCRIPTION:The Grassy Run Heritage Rendezvous is the largest living history event in Southwest Ohio and has been for over 30 years. Thanks to the Goshen Township Historical Society we are holding our rendezvous on the grounds of the Cook Log Cabin Heritage Center and\, thanks to Goshen Local Schools\, have the use of the field behind the high school\, which is next to the heritage center\, and both share the same parking lot. The address is 6707 Goshen Road\, Goshen\, Ohio\, 45122.\nThough not juried\, we do require compliance with keeping the feel of a pre-1840 encampment\, both in accoutrements and trade goods. We will have demonstrations in leather working\, rope making\, wood working\, writing with a quill pen\, spinning and weaving\, electricity in the 18th century\, and whatever else anyone would like to offer.
