SUMMARY:1776 at Fort Jesup
DESCRIPTION:1776 at Fort Jesup! \n*please make note that this is a 19th century site and that we are demonstrating a historical practice from the 1770s\, and not a particular event at this place that occurred. * \nThe timeframe of this event will be roughly Revolutionary War era\, and the participant’s gear must be appropriate for mid-1760 to 1785. \nThe local Militia has been called to annual drill\, and the womenfolk and families have traveled along in order to share in each other’s company. All types of reenactors will be accommodated: \nFor military interested reenactors there will be the Militia drill\, and a skirmish\, (both line warfare or frontier style) if numbers are favorable. \nFor ladies there will be a high tea function at the old officers quarters\, to enjoy socializing\, play cards\, partake in trying of different teas\, refreshments and other period recipes. \nFor those interested in portraying civilian trades\, you are invited to set up and display your trade of choice! \nFor children there is ample playing room and having fun is encouraged! \nAfter the day is done\, the fort kitchen will be outfitted as a Tavern and the Tavern night will commence! All are invited to drink\, eat\, play music\, sing and socialize. \n***notes for reenactors*** \nWe will be wearing clothing and accoutrements accurate to early 1770s America.\nStandards have been published.
