SUMMARY:The Fair at New Boston
DESCRIPTION:Step back in time to the Ohio country of 1790 – 1810. An era of change in Ohio\, from early settlers to statehood to towns growing up\, especially New Boston\, Ohio. At the Fair you will see artisans creating and selling their wares\, merchants with items you would find in the finest cities to the east\, you will hear music from strolling musicians\, see a military encampment with cannons booming\, and a representation of a  Native Village. There is also food to enjoy\, many over an open fire. Beverages are available.

SUMMARY:Remembering the Vietnam War
DESCRIPTION:This is a living history educational program with displays and a reenactment scheduled. \nLiving History camps and displays can be set up Friday afternoon beginning at 1 PM. Enter by the main gate and let them know you are there as a museum volunteer. Public hours are from 10 AM to 4 PM. Restrooms available in the museum. There is an outside water source next to the museum building. It’s good water\, use your canteens. Please limit the use of plastic bottled water. You must be at least 18 years old to carry a “live” BFA weapon. Airsoft weapons are permitted for those under 18. Also\, those under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign our liability waiver sheet for them. 14 to 18 yr olds can participate as medics\, ammo carriers\, radio operators. \nPOC (camp commander) for this event is Brandon Hawkins. Updates will be sent out to anyone registered. \nRegister ASAP – Ft. Harrison park management requests they be informed of the number of reenactors participating in our events 2 weeks prior to the event. SUMMARY:47th Annual Simon Kenton Festival
DESCRIPTION:A two-day historical adventure in Old Washington Historic District in Maysville\, Kentucky. The Simon Kenton Festival includes presentations from historical heroes such as Simon Kenton and Daniel Boone\, pioneer games\, music\, museum tours\, artisans\, and much more. This weekend will be sure to provide you with historical knowledge\, a treasured keepsake\, and memories that will last a lifetime. \nWashington was established in 1786\, by the Virginia Legislature\, six years before Kentucky became a state. By 1790\, Washington had grown to 119 log cabins\, the second largest town in Kentucky. After separation from Bourbon County in 1788 Washington became the County seat of Mason County\, which included nearly one-fourth of the area of Kentucky. \nBuildings in Washington today include: FLATBOAT – C. 1787 Mefford’s Station is the last known flatboat house in existence; CANE BRAKE – Visitor’s Center – Original 1790 log cabin; LOG POST OFFICE – Only known working log post office in the United States. \nFor more information\, contact info@cityofmaysvilleky.gov
