SUMMARY:World War II "Echoes of Valor"
DESCRIPTION:World War II “Echoes of Valor” April 17-19\, 2026 \nEchoes of Valor stands as this area of Northwest Ohio’s longest-running dedicated World War II reenactment\, and one of the first events of its kind to return to the area in many years. Born from a labor of love by reenactors determined to share the stories of the Greatest Generation\, the event has grown into a powerful living history experience. \nToday\, Echoes of Valor is presented as a joint effort between the Defiance County Historical Society and Historical Frontline Events\, a nonprofit organization devoted to preserving history through immersive reenactments and education. It is now led by the same team—Jacob Kessler and Trenton Coleman—who brought the highly successful Operation Homecoming to Wauseon\, Ohio. \nMore than just a reenactment\, Echoes of Valor is a community-driven tribute that ensures the courage\, sacrifice\, and legacy of those who lived through the Second World War are never forgotten. \nThere will be a WWII Encampment and Reenactment\, open to the public\, including stations where reenactors will discuss different aspects of being a soldier during different points of the war. The event features a weapons demonstration and public “battles” on Saturday and Sunday to demonstrate some of the different skills and tactics used\, and just how difficult combat could be for the soldiers. \nAll types of military equipment\, supplies\, and vehicles to include tracked vehicles are welcome. \nParticipants can contact the following for more information: AuGlaize Village Historical Reenactors\, Trenton Coleman at email: trentcoleman35@yahoo.com \n  \nVendors contact Tim Frederick at: villageauglaize@gmail.com \nPlease join us as we recreate and celebrate our history for the America250 celebration! \nEmail us at villageauglaize@gmail.com Website: auglaizevillage.com

SUMMARY:1884 Country Fair at Small Farm and Food Fest
DESCRIPTION:Living Historians! Carriage Hill Farm would like to extend an invitation to participate in our 1880s Country Fair on Saturday August 3rd from 10am-5pm. This event is part of the larger event “Small Farm And Food Fest” which brings in upwards of 3000 visitors in a single day. For that day\, the original 1880s farmstead will portray an 1884 agricultural fair. The event will feature displays of canned goods\, floral and vegetable displays\, textiles\, and an “exotic fruit” stand. There will also be demonstrations of draft horses and period animal breeds on display. The original steam engine will also prepare complimentary steamed sweet corn. This is the biggest event of the year\, and we are looking for civilian reenactors to help interpret to the public and occasional engage them in first person conversation. \nCome enjoy the fair. If you want to sit near the textile tent\, feel free to bring some handwork. If you’re interested in animals\, you could enjoy a debate about which sheep will win first place. You could make a “best dress” and simply see and be seen at the fair. Feel free to bring a picnic basket and enjoy lunch on the fairgrounds (though there will be modern food vendors available as well.) This event is open to individuals and families of all shapes and sizes. \nPlease email Hannah Wiest at hwiest@metroparks.org if you plan to attend or have any further questions.

DESCRIPTION:May 17 – 19\, 2024 \nTimes: Friday\, May 17 – 10am to 5pm \nSaturday\, May 18 – 10am to 5pm \nSunday\, May 19 – Noon to 5pm \nBackup Date: September 6-8\, 2024 \n(just in case of Spring river flooding) \nLocation: The Lewis and Clark Boat House and Museum \n1050 Riverside Drive\, St Charles\, MO 63301 \nThe Hawken Classic: \nThe 200th anniversary of the J&S Hawken rifle is 2025. \nWe began celebrating this annual event the Spring of 2024 and again in 2025. \nThe Hawken brothers were instrumental in the development of the purpose-built Plains/Mountain rifle. Their rifles became the prototype for all makers supplying the Western trade. The Hawken Shop in St. Louis supplied rifles for the trans Mississippi trade from the 1820’s through 1860. The Hawken Classic is a celebration of the Hawken rifles contribution to American History. The Lewis and Clark Boat House and Museum near St. Louis\, Missouri\, is a great location for this event. In August 2023 the Hawken rifle was named the Official State Rifle for Missouri.

SUMMARY:1883 Country Fair at Small Farm and Food Fest
DESCRIPTION:Living Historians! Carriage Hill Farm would like to extend an invitation to participate in our 1880s Country Fair on Saturday August 5th from 10am-5pm.

SUMMARY:First Siege - 1813
DESCRIPTION:In the spring of 1813\, the American position at Fort Meigs came under attack from British and Allied American Indian Armies.  This event commemorates the dramatic nine day siege which defended Ohio in the War of 1812. \nFirst Siege – 1813 is a two-day encampment and reenactment within the 10 acre restored fort in Perrysburg\, Ohio. The daytime offerings feature dress parades\, skirmishes\, tactical engagements\, lectures\, period military music\, and a variety of skills and trades.  British and American regulars combined with State and Canadian militia make for a colorful pageant of military history on the Ohio frontier.
