SUMMARY:Post Miami
DESCRIPTION:Historic Fort Wayne\, Inc. will host a Post Miami Event August 24-25. The French were the first Europeans to settle in the Great Lakes region. They arrived in northeast Indiana in the late 1600s. The confluence of the three rivers helped facilitate a lucrative fur trade with the Native American tribes. To protect their new venture\, the French completed construction of Fort Miami in 1722\, the first of two French forts built in the area. This weekend at the Old Fort\, the French and British forces will reenact the clash for control of the area. Fur traders\, Native Americans\, soldiers\, and civilians will demonstrate daily activities. There will be musket and cannon demonstrations. Artisans will demonstrate their craft. Merchants will sell their wares. The event runs Saturday August 24\, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Sunday August 25\, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The event is free. \nFirst time participants must submit photos of themselves\, members\, and camp. First time vendors and blanket traders must attach photos of the camp and time-period appropriate merchandise. Registration deadline is August 9\, 2024. Check-in begins Friday at 10:00 am. Saturday check-in is 6:00 am to 8:00 am. Vehicles must leave the grounds by 8:00 am Saturday. Parking is available in the lot across the street. Camp areas are assigned.  Restrooms and a source of water are available. There are no food vendors on site.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, August 24th from 10 AM to 4 PM and celebrate American history and heritage. The event is Just 30 miles SE of Raleigh and is open to the public. \n  \nAdmission \n\nAdults 17 y/o+ $10.00\nChildren 6-16y/o $7.00\nChildren 5 and under FREE\nMilitary\, Law Enforcement\, Fire\, EMS\, EMA\, and Teachers with ID/badge get in FREE\n\n  \nHands-On Activities & Demonstrations \nLearn to write with a feather quill\, make an authentic Native American style necklace\, throw a tomahawk\, dress the children in colonial clothing and enlist them in the militia.  Be sure to pick up some souvenirs in our unique colonial store or from one of our guest sutlers (merchants) before you head out! \n  \nMusik & Entertainment \nChildren’s Militia will take part in a parade and trooping of the colors at 12:00 pm.  Followed by a fife and drum demonstration. Musket and cannon demonstrations will occur every hour. \n  \nFood & Drink \nRoast beef with the green beans\, baked beans\, and/or field peas\, roll and drink will be on sale from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. SUMMARY:1884 Country Fair at Small Farm and Food Fest
DESCRIPTION:Living Historians! Carriage Hill Farm would like to extend an invitation to participate in our 1880s Country Fair on Saturday August 3rd from 10am-5pm. This event is part of the larger event “Small Farm And Food Fest” which brings in upwards of 3000 visitors in a single day. For that day\, the original 1880s farmstead will portray an 1884 agricultural fair. The event will feature displays of canned goods\, floral and vegetable displays\, textiles\, and an “exotic fruit” stand. There will also be demonstrations of draft horses and period animal breeds on display. The original steam engine will also prepare complimentary steamed sweet corn. This is the biggest event of the year\, and we are looking for civilian reenactors to help interpret to the public and occasional engage them in first person conversation. \nCome enjoy the fair. If you want to sit near the textile tent\, feel free to bring some handwork. If you’re interested in animals\, you could enjoy a debate about which sheep will win first place. You could make a “best dress” and simply see and be seen at the fair. Feel free to bring a picnic basket and enjoy lunch on the fairgrounds (though there will be modern food vendors available as well.) Their rifles became the prototype for all makers supplying the Western trade. The Hawken Shop in St. Louis supplied rifles for the trans Mississippi trade from the 1820’s through 1860. The Hawken Classic is a celebration of the Hawken rifles contribution to American History. The Lewis and Clark Boat House and Museum near St. Louis\, Missouri\, is a great location for this event. In August 2023 the Hawken rifle was named the Official State Rifle for Missouri.

DESCRIPTION:Benack is an immersive event for public and reenactors.\nOn Saturday\, from 10-2\, the public will be able to participate in a variety of demonstrations from spinning wool to building field fortifications. Lunch with the reenactors will include a fashion and arms show. At 1:30 a tactical demo will take place which will be an introduction to the inner workings of a reenactment tactical. This will end with a demonstration of punishments for a deserter and a medical explnation of the period traumas via original texts. \nFor the reenactors there will be an immersive tactical at 4pm whose scenario will be “raiding a convoy.”  Allied troops will be trying to intercept an Imperial convoy of wagons and cannon on a 1 mile path.

SUMMARY:Grassy Run Heritage Rendezvous
DESCRIPTION:The Grassy Run Heritage Rendezvous is the largest living history event in Southwest Ohio and has been for over 30 years. Thanks to the Goshen Township Historical Society we are holding our rendezvous on the grounds of the Cook Log Cabin Heritage Center and\, thanks to Goshen Local Schools\, have the use of the field behind the high school\, which is next to the heritage center\, and both share the same parking lot. The address is 6707 Goshen Road\, Goshen\, Ohio\, 45122.\nThough not juried\, we do require compliance with keeping the feel of a pre-1840 encampment\, both in accoutrements and trade goods. We will have demonstrations in leather working\, rope making\, wood working\, writing with a quill pen\, spinning and weaving\, electricity in the 18th century\, and whatever else anyone would like to offer. SUMMARY:Kalamazoo Living History Show 2024
DESCRIPTION:More than 10\,000 historical re-enactors\, history enthusiasts\, collectors and the general public from the United States and Canada are expected to attend the 48th annual Kalamazoo Living History Show™.  The juried\, nationally recognized show is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday\, March 16-17\, 2024\, at the Kalamazoo County Expo Center\, Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds\, 2900 Lake Street\, Kalamazoo\, Michigan.   The show attracts many of the finest artisans and vendors of pre-1890 living history supplies and related crafts from throughout the United States and Canada. \nOther highlights include children’s activities\, Native American cultural programs\, and artisans who will demonstrate their crafts. \nThe Kalamazoo Living History Show™ is open to the general public Saturday\, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday\, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Admission is $9.00 for a single day adult pass; $13.00 for a weekend adult pass.  Children 12 years of age and under admitted free when accompanied by a parent.
