SUMMARY:Encampment of Revolutionary War Reenactors in Shepherdstown\, WV
DESCRIPTION:The final event of Shepherdstown WV’s Bee Line March 250th Anniversary will be an encampment of Revolutionary War reenactors at Shepherdstown’s Morgan’s Grove Park on July 19\, 2025. This will be a family-friendly event: admission will be free and everyone will be welcome. \nCome out and learn about the Bee Line March and the Revolutionary War\, and how the American soldiers of that time lived and trained. \nThe event will start at Shepherdstown’s Morgan’s Grove Park at 10:00 am. The activities at the park will include the following: \n-Fife and drum demonstrations by the Old Line Fife and Drum Corps from Frederick\, MD. \n-Drill and flintlock demonstrations. \n-Demonstrations of Revolutionary War camp life. \n-Talks in the Park pavilion about various aspects of Revolutionary War history. \n-18th Century games for children. \nFood trucks will offer barbeque\, soft drinks\, and ice cream for purchase. \nAt about 3:00 pm\, the reenactors will march to downtown Shepherdstown\, led by the Old Line Fife and Drum Corps. Members of the public will be welcome to join in the march. When the marchers arrive downtown\, they will position themselves at various locations to engage visitors and townspeople in discussions about the Bee Line March and the Revolutionary War. \nAt about 5:00 pm\, the reenactors will gather on the McMurran Hall lawn for a commemorative event featuring a short talk about the importance of the Bee Line March. Afterwards\, they will have supper at Alma Bea’s Restaurant and then return to spend the night at Morgan’s Grove Park.

Tour the Johnston House and see it decked in antique Victorian ornaments in the drawing room and vintage tableware in the dining room. The parents’ bedroom will showcase nostalgic holiday reproductions from Piqua’s own Apple Tree Gallery.\n\n\nHands-on Fun & Special Events:\n\n\nChristmas Cookies in the Historic Kitchen (weather permitting)\nJoin us as we bake classic Christmas cookies the old-fashioned way!\n\n\nFeather Tree Workshop – Saturday\, July 19 • 1:00–4:00 PM\nMake your own authentic 18″ feather tree with one of the last traditional feather tree artisans.  $55 Non-Members | $50 Members  Pre-registration required\n\n\nMid-Century Ornament Roundtable – Sunday\, July 20 • 1:00 PM  Pull up a chair in the museum for a lively discussion about those quirky and colorful plastic Christmas ornaments from the 1950s–60s.
